Porta Portese Comenius index
We are hoping to develop a Comenius project relating to the Second or First World War to involve the sharing of eyewitness accounts, drama and literature and modern foreign languages. We have already gained some experience of this with our twin town of Vitry sur Seine in France but would like to broaden the scope and edit a joint web site on the subject.
We think that by getting young people to investigate more closely what really happened and asking their elders about their experiences, this will do more to break down barriers between nations. Pupils often tend to look at the wars in very black and white terms almost like the result of a football match. We would hope ultimately for groups from the three/four countries to meet on the scene of a historical event and to share their knowledge in the form of drama, poetry etc. In the meantime a website would be developed using our increasing expertise in this field.
